How Do Y'all Do That Thing, Y'all? How?
A question for the bloggers; I keep reading peeps' blog entries in which they mention the crazy Google searches that have landed readers at their site. My site meter dealie doesn't tell me this stuff, I don't think. How do I find out? I wanna know! Do I have to shell out money or something?
Advice appreciated.
Furthermore, in the interest of the information being interesting to me eventually, here are some potential reader-attracting, misleading catchphrases:
SAUCY TALES OF OKTOBERFEST
I GET ALL SCHADENFREUDE ABOUT MYSELF
BUSH DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THE HUNGRY HUNGRY HIPPOS
YOU ARE VERY, VERY SUPERCALLIFRAGILISTICEXPYALIDOCIOUS
I SAID BIGFOOT!
Edited to add: So I learned how to look it up. It doesn't appear as though I am attracting much of ANYONE, really. DANG.

click on "site stats".
on the lower left there is a link called "referrers". that oughtta do it. i just looked at yours.
Oh, damn. I seem not to be randomly found by any pervs.
sarah:
does blogger.com give you full or partial access to the access logs? there should be a referrer mentioned in the logs- and that is usually split out to search referres.
it's a fascinating tidbit.
on my stupid blog, I get a lot of search referrers for Elyese Luray, the scrumptious host of PBS' The History Detectives. (Although I don't think it'd work out for Elyse and me). Anyway, I think I mentioned her *once* and yet the google-pervs continue to troll my posts according to the search referrer log.
ah crap, chartreuse already answered the question, I'm too slow.

I get a lot of hits for "Darryl Hall 2005 Lyme disease." Seriously. As in, more than 4 times, exactly that. Hot topic, that.
Jeff, how do you know that?
Kenneth, I looked up "access logs" in the Blogger help and Blogger Knowledge and it didn't even have an entry. So I'm stumped. I'm not all that hard to stump though--for one thing, I am reading your blog, Kenneth, and I can't figure out how to comment on it. (BTW The barbershop story is awesome.) Also so anyway my site stats from that free site stats dealio are pretty minimal--like it'll tell me a site somebody came to my site from but not what they searched for.
I wanna know what kinda pervs I'm getting! Kennth gets PBS history presenter pervs, Jeff gets Darryl Hall Lyme disease pervs, I wanna knwo what kind I have!

it tells you what someone searched for *if* they searched. the referrer would be listed as, for example, "google search: nipple lickers". but if they just clicked on a link from, let's say, artstars.org, the referrer will be "artstars". if they typed in your URL, it's listed as a "direct hit"; that means they came to your site on purpose, abd that should make you happy.
i get a lot of people googling "mo pitkins" because of a post about faceboyz open mic nite. there's not a lot about mo pitkins online apparently.
A-HA!
Thanks, Tia.
I am delighted right now because somebody found me the other day by googling "shark punching."
