Schooled!

(During a class discussion of Raymond Carver's short story Cathedral, in which a wise blind man appears):

Sarah: Wasn't Virgil blind?
smartypants: No, you're thinking of Homer.
Sarah: I knew it was some Greek, anyhow.
smartypants: Um, Virgil was Roman.
Sarah: Well, I knew it was some... Greco-Roman.

(Note: I knew Homer was blind, I just thought... maybe...Virgil was too?)

That's one of my favorite short stories ever.

And Smartypants always have low self esteem. Or that's what I tell myself.
